OVERWHELMED…..?

Each day can feel overwhelming…. beginning with the breakfast battle… followed closely by the “GET DRESSED” battle… and so on…

When we feel overwhelmed we feel like we are submerged with emotions and thoughts about our current life situation no matter how big or how small.

How we deal with this overwhelm can be overwhelming too!

I have a few tips that may help:

  • BREAK IT DOWN - Sit down and break down your daily activities… prioritize what is most important and what doesn’t matter as much.

  • SET BOUNDARIES - If you have to cancel plans or say no to someone to get your mind in the right head space, that is ok! If you have to stop hanging out with people that don’t align with your core values that is ok too. It might also mean unfollowing people on social media.

  • GET SOME FRESH AIR - Getting into nature can get your thoughts clearer, and plan an attack on the overwhelm.

  • BRAIN DUMP - Sometimes we just got to write it all down, once it is all written down it might not feel as overwhelming.

  • ASK FOR HELP - Asking for help isn’t a sign of weakness…. if you need the hand the kids over for a few hours to get your thoughts together and a few things done to reduce the feeling of overwhelm, you will feel much better for it!

  • CLEAN UP - Sometimes cleaning up all the mess around you can be just as therapeutic

  • DEEP BREATHS

  • STILLNESS - This can be hard with kids around, but sitting in stillness and silence can create a calmer, peaceful and more placid approach to the overwhelm.

  • LETTING IT GO - Bottling these feelings up inside can be very damaging, admitting you’re feeling overwhelmed mightiest be enough to get you through.

Just remember that you are not alone, we are all facing the feeling of overwhelm in one way, shape or form. It is how we deal with it, that tells us apart.
